Client: Patrón
Event: New York Food and Wine Festival, Tacos and Tequila hosted by Chef Bobby Flay
Role: Event Designer
While working on the Gourmet Latino Food Festival, I was recruited by the event manager for the New York Food and Wine Festival. Patrón Tequila, sponsor for the Tacos and Tequila event, needed a designer to help create an environment that blended Patrón’s brand with the style of the festival.
After presenting six different mood boards that I felt reflected this combination, the Patrón execs chose one entitled ‘Guilded Nature,’ which became the look and feel of the five hour nighttime Soho soiree.
I worked closely with the Tacos and Tequila Event Coordinator who gave me a budget and a set of tasks to accomplish with the funds, which specifically included the creation of two large sponsor booths. As a high profile expensive event, the space had to look modern and swanky. For the first time in my freelancing experience, I found myself unable to DIY my designs, so I had to locate, cultivate, direct, and budget individual vendors to make my environmental designs a reality.
Vendors that I worked with and was required to budget for included furniture makers, vinyl printers, lighting gaffers, and floral markets. I also had to budget my own salary as well as for day-of temp workers who helped me build and break down the event.
