MAIN CHALLENGE
Rendering visuals so visitors to the artist-in-residence space understood the vision for the final installations, and were excited and inspired to co-create with the artist to realize the installations.
The 2021 Salem, MA PAiR, Malorie Landgreen, had a vision for co-creating four installations during her residency. Each installation would transform the artist loft into a completely different experience, and she would use materials, flooring, music, scent, and even taste to help transport the visitor from Salem to a new world they had created together. During the production phase, Malorie developed small crafting projects, using all sorts of media, and invited the public to come and create with her. The products created were then folded into and featured in the final installation of the space.
During this period, it was helpful for her to have a rendering to illustrate the big picture vision to her visitors, as well as to promote the project on social media. In every case, my renderings were completed before the details of the installation were fully figured out.
The four installations themes were: Baker-Miller Pink, Flora & Fauna, Starry Night, and Reflections.
